Livingston Academy is the public four-year high school of Overton County, Tennessee. We have about 960 students in grades nine through twelve. We are accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Our CEEB code is 431-225

Grading Scale: Livingston Academy assigns number grades and letter grades as listed below. We use a 4.0 GPA system. We use the State of Tennessee mandated grading scale. We do not use weighted grades.
A=93-100 B=85-92 C=75-84 D=70-74 F = 69 and below
Honors courses (denoted with a "H" before course name) receive an additional 3 points on the final average. The scores shown already contain the additional points.
Block schedule Students can received 4 whole credits each semester, for a total of 8 each year.
Credit Recovery is offered for students who have failed a course, which is denoted on record as credit recovery or Cr Rec. Summer School is also offered, which is denoted on record as summer school or SS.
Graduation Requirements for classes of 2010,2011, & 2012
English 4 units: English 9 is a year-long course listed as Eng 9 A & Eng 9 B. It is worth 2 credits, but only counts as 1 English unit.
To receive this unit, students must pass both semesters. Each semester stands alone, one semester cannot bring up the other semester's average.
Applied Communications (App Comm) is the technical path equivalent to English 12.
Math 3 units (must have an Algebra level course and a Geometry level)
Algebra 1 is a year long course listed as Alg A & Alg B. It is worth 2 credits, but only counts as 1 Math unit. To receive this unit, students must pass both semesters.
Each semester stands alone, one semester cannot bring up the other semester's average.
Science 3 units Biology or Biology Tech is required for all.
Biology/Biology Tech is a year long course listed as Bio A & Bio B. It is worth 2 credits, but only counts as 1 Science unit.

Lifetime Wellness (LTW) 1 credit
Computer Keyboarding 1 credit
Social Studies 3 credits Economics, American Government, and American History are required.
